Mission Statement

[Mission statement is currently being revised. Original purpose from By-Laws follow:]

Article III: Purpose

The purpose for which the CCCG is organized is to serve as a forum to enable people with different views to openly and honestly discuss issues that concern Catron County, New Mexico; to find common ground in order to take action on projects that ensure an economic, social, and environmentally sound future. .... The CCCG works collaboratively to accomplish the following goals:

  • Promote land stewardship;
  • Promote local economy; and
  • Reduce stress.

To this end, the CCCG continues its organizing and consensus building to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Maintain and strengthen a collaborative planning and decision making process involving a diverse range of stakeholder groups for both forest and range health and economic development projects;
  • Improve watershed health through ecosystem management involving the planning, implementation and monitoring of forest restoration and watershed improvement projects;
  • Improve watershed health and develop stability within the ranching industry by linking scientific knowledge and monitoring to rangeland management;
  • Develop an economically sustainable, environmentally and socially responsible forest products industry; and
  • Provide economic opportunity for youths, young adults and other community members.

 

Membership

Membership is open to any any individual who applies and demonstrates a positive interest in the purposes of the CCCG. Membership may include representatives from State, Federal, Tribal and Local governments and private sectors. The Board of Directors is elected by the membership; only members who reside in Catron Countymay have the right to vote for Directors.

The annual members meeting is in April, when Directors are elected. Special meetings are called from time to time. Notice of all meetings is posted on this website, published in local newspapers and posted via flyers in the communities around the county seven days prior to the meetings.
